University of Montpellier is the fifth university in France, with 45.000 students, 5.000 personal staff and 76 research labs. The university of Montpellier was formed in 2015 by merging University of Montpellier 1 (Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Sport, Economy, Law and Political Sciences) and University of Montpellier 2 (Sciences, Management and Education Sciences).

University of Montpellier also includes one of the 13 Engineering Schools in the Polytech Group under the authority of the French Engineering Accreditation Commission (CTI). Polytech Montpellier awards a 5-year degree of “Ingénieur Diplômé d’Etat” in 6 fields:

  • Electrical Engineering,
  • Water Science and Engineering,
  • Materials Science and Engineering,
  • Biological and Agri-food Engineering,
  • Computer Science and Management and
  • Mechanical Engineering and Interactive Design.

There are 3 additional qualifications in Embedded Systems, Mechanical Engineering for sheet metal working and Hydraulics and Civil Engineering, which are sandwich courses under the apprenticeship scheme.

As an integral part of the University of Montpellier, it benefits from both educational and scientific potential. The Engineering School Polytech of the University of Montpellier itself welcomes about 160 students from all over the world and has set up active partnerships with 57 universities in all continents, 40 of which are in Europe.

International Relations are an absolute priority at Polytech Montpellier, with 80% of students having some sort of international experience throughout their time with us. Every year, it sends 50 students on study abroad programmes (mostly in Europe under Erasmus +) some 200 on industrial placements abroad, 50 of whom benefit from Erasmus + placement grants
